The CWM (Catholic Workers Movement) has existed in Uganda since 1995 and is represented in 12 dioceses. Approximately 6,000 members are organized in 170 grassroots groups, 38 women’s groups and 35 youth groups. There are also more than 200 savings and credit groups.

The symbols mean the dioceses where the CWM is represented.

The CWM adopted principles in a National Workshop, which were then communicated, discused and adopted in all dioceses during a seminar. At these  “Core Values” the groups align their work.

The CWM is led by a National Executive Committee (NEXCO) and 12 Diocesan Executive Committees (DEXCOS). In the parishes there is also a grassroots committee and usually departments for youth and women.

The CWM is managed and administered by 3 main officers at the national level and one secretary in each diocese.

Also for the management of the movement was created a   Manual “Fundamental Principles for success”.

The many CWM groups often run various projects together. These are presented in a special  Methodolgie.

Save and loan Associations
