The project started back in August 2019 with 11 young people and 11 goats. Each member contributed a female goat to get the project started. The land was leased for 3-years. The group’s goal is to have over 60 goats by the end of the third year. A goat bought for 90,000 UGX is expected to be sold for 250,000 UGX after 3 years, making a good profit.

To date, the number of goats has more than doubled to 28. The target is 15,000,000 UGX. The plans to expand the project may not be fulfilled because we lack land for the expansion. The owner wants to use it himself next year in September. The group has therefore decided to invest in a pig farming project, as the church community is willing to give us land (a contract has yet to be signed).

Another goal of the group is to open an animal feed shop in the centre of Kaliiro. This is to tap into the booming market for herbicides, vaccines and other related services.
